Foothills Goat & Sheep Producers Association
Foothills Goat & Sheep Producers Association works to promote the goat and sheep industry in the foothills region of both Carolinas. Headquartered in Shelby, NC, the organization seeks to benefit members through collaborative education & marketing strategies. Major events include sanctioned goat shows, youth shows & clinics, and an annual Boer Goat Production Sale. Membership is $35 per farm, due January 1 each year.
The Association holds regular business meetings at the Cleveland County Extension Center, located at 130 S. Post Road in Shelby. We also coordinate educational presentations, demonstrations and field days tailored to the information needs and interests of our members.
Goat & Sheep Educational Seminar
Join us for an educational seminar at the Cleveland County Extension Center in Shelby, NC on Saturday, March 28 from 9:30 am until 3 pm.
This low-cost educational program is designed to provide goat and sheep producers with practical information to help them improve the health, performance, and profitability of their flocks & herds. Led by a team of professional researchers, educators, and veterinary practitioners, the seminar promises to deliver advice you can apply to the production of meat, milk and fiber animals. Presentations include:
- Winning the War with Worms
- All About Coyotes
- Lunch on Your Own
- Diagnosing Herd Health Issues
- Good Husbandry to Improve Animal Health & Performance
Cost for the seminar is $20 per individual or $30 per farm. This registration fee covers the cost of handouts and refreshments. Any remaining funds will help support the Association’s youth-related projects and activities.

Spring Spectacular Goat Shows
The NC Spring Spectacular Boer Goat Show will be held Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds in Shelby, NC. The action-packed day will include:
- Two ABGA-Sanctioned Open Goat Shows (judges Kathy Daves-Carr and Catherine Riley)
- South East Regional Junior ABGA Show (cash awards, ribbons, rosettes, and belt buckles to be awarded)
- Jackpot Market Wether, Market Doe, and Commercial Doe Show (part of the 2015 Youth Show Circuit)

FG&SPA Youth Show Circuit
Our youth show circuit is open to all youth who are 21 years and younger as of January 1, 2015. The circuit includes Jackpot shows for Market Wether Kids, Market Doe Kids and Commercial Meat Does. Learn more and sign up for the fun with our Show Circuit Guidelines and Application Form.
